SEN Specialist LSA
Job Introduction
Location: King’s Academy Northern Parade
Position: SEN Specialist Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Contract: 30 hours per week, term time only
Salary: Pay band 4 (£24,420 FTE - £17,515 Actual)

We are seeking dedicated SEN Specialist LSA’s to join our team, working closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to support their individual learning and development needs.
About the Role:
As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will:

Provide tailored support to children with SEND (SEN Support and children with an EHCP), including those with ASD and Neurodiverstity, ensuring they can access the curriculum and make progress.

Work both 1:1 and in small groups, building positive relationships and delivering targeted interventions.

Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement and adapt strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.

Help to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child feels valued.

Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) reviews when required.

Communicate with parents/carers and colleagues across the setting
About You:
The successful candidate will:
-
Have prior experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with ASD and Neurodiversity.

Have good knowledge of strategies used to support children with SEN for example, Makaton or PECs etc.

Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEND and a proactive approach to supporting their learning and well-being.

Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Share King’s Academy Northern Parade’s commitment to inclusion and the belief that every child has the right to succeed.

Hold relevant qualifications or training in SEN (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Autism-specific training) – desirable but not essential.

Position: Lead Midday Supervisor

About the Role:
As the Lead Midday Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of lunchtime activities and supervising children across the school. You will be responsible for coordinating a team of midday supervisors, assigning duties, and ensuring that all areas of the playground, dining halls, and other lunch areas are properly supervised.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Take the lead in organising the midday supervisory team, assigning staff to specific zones, and ensuring effective coverage of all areas.

Coordination: Plan and manage the daily lunchtime rota, ensuring each supervisor knows their duties and any specific tasks for the day.

Safety and Welfare: Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for children during lunch breaks, ensuring positive behaviour and well-being.

Communication: Act as the main point of contact between midday staff and the line manager for midday staff, reporting any concerns or incidents.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children.

Previous experience in a similar supervisory or childcare role is desirable.

Confidence in handling minor first aid incidents and maintaining health and safety protocols.
